Casa Calmavista is a family-run venture led by Andrea and Matthias with passion and personal dedication. They combine their extensive expertise in culinary arts, management, and hospitality to create an exclusive retreat in the Douro Valley. Get to know this international couple whose love for the region ensures unforgettable stays.
Andrea is not only a passionate chef but also a charming host who thrives on connecting with people. She has showcased her culinary skills on various German TV shows, including MasterChef Germany. As a freelance chef, she offers catering, organizes culinary events, and teaches cooking classes. Her infectious enthusiasm and joy in sharing make her captivating. With German-Italian roots, she speaks fluent German, Italian, English, and French, plus some Spanish.
Matthias brings decades of management experience from the food industry—30 years at major international corporations before founding their Portuguese venture with Andrea. In his free time, he explores mountains and new routes by bike. He also loves classic cars and vintage bicycles, especially of Italian origin. Being a native German, he speaks fluent German, English, and French, with some Italian and Portuguese
